Icy events at West Newbury's Winter Carnival

WEST NEWBURY — Looking for a great family fun day? This year’s Winter Carnival is Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. (weather permitting) at the Mill Pond Recreation Area on Main Street.

The annual town event includes ice skating, sledding and plenty of other ice-related activities and fun games. Snow-related activities will be available on areas where there is sufficient snow. Frosty the Snowman and his special guests may put in an appearance as well.

The West Newbury Fire Department will hold an ice rescue demonstration at 10:30 a.m. and will be available to answer questions about their ice safety and rescue equipment. All activities are free.

Hamburgers, hot dogs, drinks and snacks will be available for purchase. Mill Pond Building will be used as a warming hut and its wide porch is a perfect spot to watch the action on Mill Pond.
