Stripers closed temporarily for repairs

Owner says restaurant will reopen soon

SALISBURY — Rumors swirling that Stripers Grille & Inn on the Merrimack River at 175 Bridge Road has closed its doors permanently are incorrect, according to owner Steve Kuchar.

“We’re temporarily closed because of a mechanical problem,” Kuchar said yesterday. “We expect to reopen soon. I’m not going away.”

Kuchar said the restaurant had closed before the blizzard arrived on Friday. While it was closed for the necessary repairs, Kuchar decided to take the opportunity to do some interior work as well.

Stripers is the only Salisbury restaurant and lounge on the Merrimack River. Kuchar and his wife, Lisa Reinhold, have owned the business for years. The restaurant, lounge and accompanying inn underwent a major renovation a few years back that added more space and an elevator.

Kuchar said he’s met with staff concerning the temporary closing to keep them updated.

“The staff’s still around,” Kuchar said. “They’re all cool.”
