This Day in History

On this day in 1819, Thomas Clark, John Pearson, Henry Merritt, Richard Bartlett and Samuel Tenney, “their associates and successors,” were incorporated under the name Newburyport Howard Benevolent Society for the purpose of relieving suffering occasioned by poverty and illness.
