---- — WEST NEWBURY — Benjamin Di Camillo, 11, has won state recognition in the Daughters of the American Revolution Annual American History essay contest.
Open to students in grades 5 to 8, the contest seeks to encourage young people to think creatively about U.S. history. Candidates from each of the four grades are selected from the winners of the local chapter contests to advance to the state level. State winners from each grade then go on to the divisional level and may ultimately become the winner nationally.
The West Newbury sixth-grader won the chapter award as part of the Clark School entry into the Danvers chapter of the DAR. He will be reading his essay and receiving an award at a banquet next weekend. He is the son of Kim and Stephen Di Camillo.
