Mothers club donates $5,000 to Breast Care Center

The Greater Newburyport Mothers and Families Club has donated $5,000 to support the new Breast Care Center at Anna Jaques Hospital. The donation comes from proceeds from the club’s annual consignment sale and serves as one of the founding gifts for the hospital’s new Breast Care Center.

The Breast Care Center at Anna Jaques Hospital will open this summer and will be led by Peter Hartmann, MD, FACS, a board-certified general surgeon who will serve as the dedicated breast surgeon. Hartmann brings nearly 25 years of private surgical practice to the role of medical director.

“Anna Jaques appreciates the generous support from the Greater Newburyport Mothers and Families Club. They play a well-recognized role in providing support to families in our community and we admire their success,” said Delia O’Connor, president and CEO, Anna Jaques Hospital. “This gift, and those of other donors, helps enable the Breast Care Center to leverage the latest technology in mammography screening and risk assessment protocols, so that we can detect and treat cancers earlier, often when they are smaller.”

“Providing financial support to the local community is of great importance to our club,” said Kelly Marshall, president, Greater Newburyport Mothers and Families Club. “Over the years, the consignment sale teams, along with club volunteers, have worked tirelessly to raise these funds. We are honored to support invaluable community resources such as Anna Jaques Hospital.”

The Breast Care Center will be located at One Wallace Bashaw Jr. Way, Suite 2002, Newburyport.
