AARP program March 13: Join AARP representatives for a conversation about the future of Medicare and Social Security on Wednesday, March 13, 10 a.m., at the First Congregational Church. Discussion topics will include programs for current retirees, veterans and future generations along with legislative issues at the state and federal level. St. Patrick’s Day/March birthday party March 13: Join us on Wednesday, March 13, 11 a.m., to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day and to send best wishes to our friends who were born in March as the COA hosts the monthly birthday at the First Congregational Church. March birthday celebrants will receive a free lunch (everyone else is $2). To make reservations, call the COA office by Tuesday, March 6.

Tarr’s staff to hold office hours March 14: On Thursday, March 14, Susan Testaverde, chief of staff with Sen. Bruce Tarr’s office, will hold office hours from 1 to 4 p.m. in the second floor conference room at Town Hall.

COA Friends to meet March 18: The Friends of the Georgetown Council on Aging will meet Monday, March 18, 3 p.m., at the Georgetown Peabody Library. New members are welcome.

AARP Tax Preparation Program continues: Continuing through April 11, AARP tax aide Carl Much is available Thursdays, 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. to assist elders and other moderate-income individuals with their tax preparations. Information regarding tax preparation and the criteria for Massachusetts Circuit Breaker tax credit program is available at the Council on Aging office. Limited appointments for income tax information are available. To schedule an appointment, call the COA office.

March van trips: The March COA van schedule includes: Thursday, March 7, 9:30 a.m. to Super Walmart, Salem, N.H.; Tuesday, March 12, 9:30 a.m. to Rowley; Thursday, March 14, 10:30 a.m. to Northshore Mall, Peabody; Tuesday, March 19, 9:30 a.m. to Newburyport; Thursday, March 21, 10:30 a.m. to Seabrook; Tuesday, March 26, 9:30 a.m. to Plaistow, N.H.; and Thursday, March 28, 10:30 a.m. to Haverhill. Suggested donation is $2 round trip. Reservations can be made two days in advance by calling the COA.
