This Day in History

On this day in 1783, the Union Fire Society was organized by Ben Frothingham, William Cross, Daniel Balch, Abraham Jackson, Daniel Coffin, Richard Pike and other well-known citizens for the purpose of preventing the spread of fires. Meetings were typically held at Wolfe Tavern.
