Restaurant/shopping showcase will be Dec. 5

AMESBURY — The Amesbury Chamber of Commerce and Industrial Foundation is getting set to host the 15th Annual Restaurant Showcase, with a new twist this year.

Besides offering food from Amesbury restaurants, the event will also feature a shopping showcase of Amesbury stores.

This event has always been a success for the Amesbury Chamber of Commerce to raise funds for the Amesbury holiday decorations.

Amesbury Chamber Executive Director Melissa Lachance said, “We wanted to grow this event for the shops and salons to participate.

Over the years the restaurants have done a tremendous job at this event and we are hoping to draw a broader audience.”

The Amesbury Chamber is hoping that the addition of the shops and salons will encourage guests to stay longer and come back to shop and dine in Amesbury going forward. The event has been moved to a larger location to accommodate more people and the shops.

The event will now be held at Bartley Machine, 35 Water St., on the second floor above Coastal Connections. It will be held Wednesday, Dec. 5, 5:30 to 8 p.m.

The admission for this event is $10, which includes a door prize raffle. There are additional raffle tickets to purchase for prizes including a grand prize of $1,000 worth of gift cards to local businesses. Tickets will be on sale at the door and at the Amesbury Chamber office, 5 Market Square.

The Amesbury Chamber of Commerce and Industrial Foundation is following up the event with two Thursdays (Dec. 6 and 13) of invitation nights. Amesbury shops will stay open until at least 7 p.m. to meet and greet new customers and give people an option to do some holiday shopping at local businesses.

All of this follows up from Amesbury’s holiday parade and tree lighting set for Saturday, Dec. 1, with a theme of “Christmas Around the World.”
