Volunteers from the Salisbury Police Department will host its “Stuff the Cruiser” annual food, toy and clothing drive from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Dec. 8. Taking place in Salisbury Square, the event collects gifts and donations for two local charities, Santa’s Helpers and the Pettengill House Food Pantry.
According to organizer officer Dennis Lucia, needed are new, unwrapped toys and new children’s winter clothing, such as warm jackets, mittens, hats, boots and coats, all for this year’s 38th annual Santa’s Helpers campaign, which provides gifts for local children whose families are under financial stress.
Also being collected are nonperishable food items for the Food Pantry.
“Especially after Thanksgiving, Pettengill House’s Food Pantry’s shelves are pretty bare,” Lucia said. “We’re hoping the public will help fill those shelves again.”
Salisbury Chamber of Commerce will host its Holiday Celebration on Thursday, Dec. 13, starting at 5:30 p.m. at the Ocean Room on the Pavilion at Salisbury Beach located at Ocean Front South.
The event includes dinner, with music and sing-along with Bob Allison. There will also be auction items and a lottery tree.
Reservations are required and can be made by calling 978-465-3581.
