---- — NEWBURY — Workshop Arts travels to the medieval times of 13th century England to present the inspiring tale of the legendary hero Robin Hood this weekend at Newbury Elementary School.
Playwright-director Stacey April Fix leads a local cast of 86 youngsters in presenting “Nottingham — A Tale of True Hearts” will be performed Friday at 7 p.m., Saturday at 3 and 7 p.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m. at the school at 63 Hanover St.
Fix’s original script is a story of courage, friendship and loyalty set within the towering castle walls of a medieval Sherwood Forest. Filled with unexpected twists in plot and characters, the show features dramatic costumes, spirited dances and theatrical production elements. In addition to the young performers in grades 2 through 6, the show involves about a dozen middle and high school alumni of the company working behind the scenes.
