Parking holiday is city's gift to shoppers

NEWBURYPORT — Mayor Donna Holaday is offering shoppers free parking downtown for four days this month, Dec. 21 through 24, as an incentive to shop local this holiday season.

Holaday said there will be no parking fee charged in all six of the city’s paid parking lots over the course of the four days.

“I am pleased to offer this paid parking holiday so residents and visitors can enjoy shopping and dining in our downtown and support our wonderful shops and restaurants during the holiday season,” Holaday said in a press release.

The mayor is urging cooperation from downtown business owners to leave the spaces open for shoppers and visitors.
