Conflict resolution skills training tomorrow at NHS

NEWBURYPORT — The North Essex Mediators of Community Action Inc. in cooperation with the Newburyport High School Peer Mediation Program will present conflict resolution skills and a demonstration to more than 300 students at Newburyport High School tomorrow.

NEM Director Thomas Joy said the program will have mediators at the school all day demonstrating mediation and discussing how to manage conflict. Mediators from the high school program will assist NEM mediators in the presentations.

The joint presentation is the result of discussions with high school Principal Michael Parent and his effort to have all incoming freshmen be exposed to conflict-resolution skills,” Joy said in a release.

Newburyport High School staff Amy Heath, Dennis White and Michael Nesson helped to plan and coordinate the program.
