At 'Camp Pirate...Anything Can Happen'

Newbury students dance and play in next week's performance

NEWBURY — Get ready to cast off and set sail for hilarity on the high seas at Newbury Elementary School next week when Theatre Workshop presents “Camp Pirate…Anything Can Happen.”

Written and directed by Stacey April Fix, the rollicking, interactive spring production features a band of wacky buccaneers on the hunt for their missing ship captain. Wisecracking fish and a story-telling turtle help reveal the mystery of spell-casting mermaids, dancing witch doctors and juggling monkeys on Coconut Island.

The family-friendly show features the talents and creativity of Newbury elementary school actors — along with dazzling costumes, high-energy dances and enough show-stopping surprises to convince even the most stubborn landlubber that anything really can happen out on the high seas.

“Camp Pirate…Anything Can Happen” runs April 4 to 6 at 7 p.m. and April 7 at 1 p.m. in the school’s auditorium. Tickets are $10 and reservations are recommended.
