---- — NEWBURYPORT — The Zoning Board of Appeals is scheduled to hold a public hearing tonight at 7 in City Hall to discuss a proposed project at 39-41 Ashland St.
A construction company operating as Caswell Development Ashland LLC is seeking a special permit for non-conformities “to demolish and reconstruct a pre-existing non-conforming single-family home, decreasing the front yard setback and adding more than the allowed 500 square feet.”
On Thursday at 7 p.m., city officials will discuss Phase II of the Clipper City Rail Trail in the auditorium at City Hall.
The meeting will be run by the Planning Department and will include a video that focuses on Phase I.
That will be followed by discussion of future developments, and those attending can ask questions and make comments.
City officials say Phase II of the project will extend the rail trail about 1.5 miles and will build upon the trail corridor constructed in the North End of the city in 2010.
The Clipper City Rail Trail is designed as a multi‐use paved trail for pedestrians, bicyclists, wheelchair users, strollers, skaters, scooters, skateboarders, dogwalkers and will serve people of all ages and all abilities, officials say.
The project will provide residents and visitors with new opportunities for transportation, recreation, physical activity, connecting neighborhoods, parks and the business district, according to municipal leaders.
