Bank donates to Lazarus House campaign

Newburyport Daily News

---- — Georgetown Bank has pledged $15,000 to Lazarus House Ministries’ Campaign for Dignity, their first capital campaign that will expand education and work preparation programs, create more transitional housing, implement an “Asset Building through Financial Literacy Program,” invest in building safety and energy improvements for the existing facilities, establish a stabilization fund and enhance efficacy of lifesaving core services including food, shelter, clothing and health services.

The check was presented by Robert Balletto, president and CEO of Georgetown Bank, to Ray Joyce, director of Development, Lazarus House, and Rick Blain, campaign consultant, Blain and Associates.

Lazarus House Ministries, a spiritually based organization, opened its doors 29 years ago as a five-bed emergency shelter for people who are homeless and the working poor.

Today, the ministry provides more than 21,000 monthly services through a soup kitchen, food pantry, emergency, transitional and AIDS/HIV homeless housing, thrift stores, advocacy, English as a Second Language and life skills education and two work preparation programs. Lazarus House serves Lawrence and surrounding communities in the Merrimack Valley area.

Georgetown Bank is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Georgetown Bancorp, Inc., with branch offices in Georgetown, North Andover and Rowley.
