Director of Veterans Services to speak at Men’s Breakfast Nov. 7: Discussing veterans services and issues, director of Veterans Services Terry Hart will be the guest speaker at the Men’s Breakfast, Thursday, Nov. 7, 9:30 a.m., at Trestle Way. Van trip to Poet’s Inn Nov. 12: Join us on Tuesday, Nov. 12, for a van trip to enjoy a buffet lunch at the Whittier Regional Technical High School’s Poets’ Inn Restaurant. The Poets’ Inn is a full-service restaurant that provides “real-world” experience to the school’s culinary arts students. The van will begin to pick people up at 10:30 a.m. Seating is limited. Thanksgiving craft Nov. 12: A Thanksgiving craft activity featuring a “Give Thanks” wall hanging is planned Tuesday, Nov. 12, 10 a.m., at the First Congregational Church. Class size is limited. If planning to attend, call the COA office.
Russ McQueen to perform Nov. 13: Celebrate the holidays with special musical entertainment when local performer Russ McQueen returns to the Georgetown COA on Wednesday, Nov. 13, 10 a.m., at the First Congregational Church. Russ will perform classic oldies, swing, pop and country music. Light refreshments will be served and the performance will be followed by the November birthday lunch. This program is supported in part by a grant from the Georgetown Cultural Council, a local agency that is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency. November birthday party Nov. 13: Join us on Wednesday, Nov. 13, 11:30 a.m., to send best wishes to our friends who were born in November as the COA hosts the monthly birthday at the First Congregational Church. November birthday celebrants will receive a free lunch (everyone else is $2). Make a day of it and join us at 10 a.m. for musical entertainment with Russ McQueen. COA Friends to meet Nov. 18: The Friends of the Georgetown COA will meet Monday, Nov. 18, 2:30 p.m., at the Georgetown Peabody Library. The meeting is open to all and new members are invited to attend.
Van trip to Peabody Essex Museum Nov. 21: The COA will sponsor a van trip to view the “Impressionists on the Water,” an exhibit featuring work by a variety of Impressionist arts including Monet, Renoir, Sisley, Signac and Caillebotte. Displaying nearly 60 oil paintings, works on paper, models and small craft, the exhibition illustrates that access to the sea and France’s extensive inland waterways played in the development of the Impressionist movement. The van will begin picking up participants at 9:30 a.m. Cost includes $2 for the van, and $15 admission cost for elders. Lunch is on your own. Seating is limited. Kiwanis Dinner Nov. 23: In the spirit of true Thanskgiving, the Kiwanis will hold their annual dinner Saturday, Nov. 23, 2 p.m., at the Penn Brook School. For information or requests for home-delivered meals, call the office.
November van trips: The November COA Van schedule includes: Thursday, Nov. 7, 9:30 a.m. to Super Walmart, Salem, N.H.; Tuesday, Nov. 12, 10:30 a.m. to Poet’s Inn in Haverhill; Thursday, Nov. 14, 10:30 a.m. to Haverhill; Tuesday, Nov. 19, 9:30 a.m. to Rowley; Thursday, Nov. 21, 9:30 a.m. to Peabody Essex Museum in Salem; and Tuesday, Nov. 26, 9:30 a.m. to Seabrook. Suggested donation is $2 round trip. Reservations can be made two days in advance by calling the office.
