Donaghue School sixth-graders will be moving on to middle school next year and will celebrate their last days of sixth grade during a celebration on Wednesday from 3 to 5 p.m. in the Donaghue School cafeteria. Pizza will be provided and music will be played by a disc jockey.
The awards ceremony for sixth-graders will be held on Friday, June 18 at 10 a.m. at the Donaghue School. Students will be recognized with various awards and receive their diplomas. Parents and family are welcome to attend.

The second-graders from the Sweetsir School will head over to the Donaghue School for a visit tomorrow. The students will have a tour of the school and visit the third-grade classrooms where they will be next year and also meet the teachers.

If you see a lot of bright, festive shirts on the Donaghue School fourth-graders Wednesday, you'll know it's Hawaiian Day. The students, who have been studying Hawaii for some time, will dress in Hawaiian garb and share Hawaiian-themed food and activities on that day.

Liz Wisniewski's third-graders will share stories they have written with their parent visitors during an Author's Tea, which will be held on Wednesday.

Kindergarten students will perform their year-end musical for parents and family on Wednesday. There will be performances in the morning and afternoon to accommodate all kindergarten classes.

The last PTO school store of the year will be held on Wednesday during lunches at both schools. There will be many items available at discount prices.

Donaghue School third-graders head out for pen pal picnics with their peers at the Page and Bagnall schools this week. Jessica Jancsy and Julia Paone's classes will visit with Page School third-graders on Wednesday, and Kathy Terceiro and Liz Wisniewski's third-graders will meet with Bagnall students on Friday.

On Thursday, Sweetsir School first-graders will take a field trip to Odiorne Park in Rye, N.H., where they will learn about marine life, while touring the coastline with a park naturalist.

Weather permitting, kindergarten students will take a walking field trip to the Merrimac police and fire station on Thursday to learn more about the town's emergency and protective services.

There will be an all-school assembly on the last day of school, June 21, where awards for such achievements as perfect attendance will be distributed.

June 21, which will be an early release day, is the last day of school.

The first day of school for the 2010/11 school year will be Tuesday, Aug. 31. Additional back-to-school information can be found at www.prsd.org.
