'Skate fest' slated for skate park Monday

NEWBURYPORT — A “skate fest” to benefit the Newburyport Skate Park will be held Monday from 5 to 8 p.m.

It is a free event, and money is raised through raffles and donations.

This will be the 10th annual event hosted by the Friends of the Newburyport Skate Park.

Food will be available from numerous local eateries and local skateboarders from Wounded Knee Skateboards will demo their skills and ride at the park along with local youngsters.

Food will be provided by Michael’s Harborside, Orange Leaf, Domino’s and Nina’s Weiners.

Raffle prizes will be from Pioneers Boardshop, New Balance, Ion-U and Rye Airfield skate park.

Sponsors of the event, held on the grounds of the middle school at 70 Low St., include the Black Cow, Carry Out Cafe, Interlocks, Michael’s Harborside, Ten Center Street and The Wishbasket.
