Beach Race set for Aug. 6

SALISBURY BEACH — Aug. 6 is the date of this year’s 5-mile Beach Race, sponsored by Salisbury Beach State Reservation lifeguards.

The race offers awards, food and a raffle, and the $15 registration fee benefits the lifeguards’ drowning prevention programs and equipment.

Run at low tide at Salisbury Beach, the race starts at 6:30 p.m. from the lifeguard station at the reservation. Racers head 2.5 miles up the beach, turn and run back.

There is also a three-quarter mile children’s Fun Run, beginning at 6:15 p.m., and has a registration fee of only $1.

Registration on race day is at lifeguard headquarters at the reservation. Preregistration can be accomplished by finding the race on or by calling the lifeguards at 978-836-9763.
