On this day in 1864, Newburyport Capt. James Knapp Pritchard aboard the ship Lila Mansfield from St. Stephen, NB towards Liverpool recorded: “[Today] came in with a light breeze from the north. From 6 p.m.…calm and light variable winds. No progress made. 7 p.m. sail in sight bound east.”
