This Day in History

On this day in 1912, the front page of The Newburyport Morning Herald reported that the price of milk was to be raised 1 cent a quart locally. This was decided only after a heated discussion of the milk dealers association. Apparently the price of grain to feed the cows had increased, creating a milk shortage. One man went so far as to say, “High time to sell my cows!”
