Winemaking Competition at Topsfield Fair

The Topsfield Fair will host the annual Winemaking Competition at the 2013 Fair. Homemade Wine entries are being accepted until Wednesday, Aug 7. Entries, along with registration forms, should be dropped off at the Topsfield Fair’s Administration Building (207 Boston St., Topsfield). Entries will be awarded points based on the following categories: Appearance, Aroma and Bouquet, Taste, Aftertaste, and Overall.

In addition to the Amateur Wine Competition, exhibitors can enter the Wine Label Competition. Labels can be hand-drawn or computer generated and will be judged as separate classes. Accepted entries will be judged at the conclusion of the Winemaking Contest and will be displayed at the Topsfield Fair on Oct. 4-14.

Families sought for Chinese students

Academic Year in America (AYA) is currently looking for Newburyport area families to play host to China.

This year, AYA is bringing highly qualified Chinese high school students to the U.S. to learn about American culture while living with volunteer host families and studying at high schools across the nation. Newburyport-area families have the unique opportunity to learn about the Chinese culture during this exchange.

Discounted advance ticket sale at Topsfield Fair

Through Oct. 3, Topsfield Fair discounted advance tickets will be on sale. The discounted advance sale price is $9 per ticket, or $8 per ticket if bought in a bundle over 100. The Topsfield Fair ticket booth will open on Aug. 19 to buy tickets in person, in addition to online and phone orders. This year’s Topsfield Fair will be held from Oct. 4-14.
