Seagulls soon to roost again on Town Hall spire

Seabrook Town Notebook

---- — After more than three years, the town’s seagull weathervane will return to Town Hall’s spire by Friday, if the weather co-operates.

The former gold-leaf-covered gull flew the coop in a nasty windstorm in early 2010, crashing head first into the ground behind Town Hall. There was no hope for repair, so with insurance money in hand, a town committee worked to get a new seagull, thanks to Seabrook’s talented coppersmith, Don Felix.

Now finished, the bird is ready to assume its perch.

The party signifying the end of Seabrook Library’s Summer Ready Program will take place at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 8, at the library.

The party, hosted by the library and Seabrook Station, is entitled “Diggers and Burrowers” by Critters ‘n Creatures. Those who attend will get to meet a spotted skunk, alligator, armadillo, hedgehog, ferret, salamander and a snake. Children will also learn about the animals and have their pictures taken with them.

Join the library with this fun finale of its “Dig into Reading” program. For more information, contact Lisa Michaud at the library at 603-474-2044 or via email at
