Programs at Mass Audubon's Joppa Flats

NEWBURYPORT — Mass Audubon’s Joppa Flats Education Center, One Plum Island Turnpike, is a natural history education and visitor center that is open to the public Tuesday through Sunday and Monday holidays, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Call 978-462-9998 for information about additional programs and events or visit www.massaudubon.org/joppaflats.

Activities and outings meet at the education center unless otherwise noted.

MEET BEACH CREATURES AT JOPPA

Before the beach, after the beach, or instead of the beach, drop in at Joppa Flats for family activities, including a tour of our marine touch tanks. Presentations at 10 and 11:30 a.m. All ages welcome. Children must be accompanied by adults.

Tuesdays through Sundays through Aug. 17, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Fee: $2.00 per child suggested donation. Registration is not required.

NATURE ART CLASSES AT JOPPA FLATS: WATERY WATER PAINTS

Children ages 6 to 11 are invited to learn how to make their own “wow” works of art in Monday morning sessions with teacher Jan Morris.

Meet at the Joppa Flats Education Center, One Plum Island Turnpike, Newburyport

Fee per session: $18. Registration is required.

IMAGINE, SING, AND LEARN: SPLISH SPLASH!

Active play and learning with Joppa Flats School and Youth Education Coordinator Lisa Hutchings for pre-schoolers, ages 3 to 5, with a favorite adult. Choose one of two sessions.

Thursday, July 25, 10 to 11:30 a.m. or Friday, July 26, 10 to 11:30 a.m.

HARBOR SEAL CRUISE ABOARD THE YANKEE CLIPPER

Lisa Hutchings and the crew of the Yankee Clipper host families with children ages 3 and older, for this exploration of the lower Merrimack River.
