This Day in History

On this day in 1777, a 30-gun ship called Hero was built in Newburyport for Capt. James Tracy. She sailed for Cape Ann July 25, 1777. It is supposed that the privateer Hero was lost in a heavy storm soon after she left Boston. Her officers and crew were never heard from again.
