Fund set up for victims of fire

SALISBURY — A fund has been established at the Institution for Savings to assist Sean and Joshua Keller, the owners of a Lafayette Road home that burned Friday night.

According to Beana Hersey, a friend who established the fund, the fire took a good deal of the Kellers' belongings and put their brother Eric in Massachusetts General Hospital.

"They have no clothing, no food, not even a razor to shave with," Hersey said. "I'm hoping this will raise enough just to get them started until insurance comes in."

Hersey also hopes to place collection cans for the family at local stores throughout Salisbury.

Eric Keller was alone in the living room of the house at 128 Lafayette Road about 11 p.m. when the fire broke out. He was injured during the three-alarm fire, and by the time firefighters from Salisbury, Amesbury, Newburyport and Merrimac arrived, he was semi-conscious.

Taken to Anna Jaques Hospital, Keller was then transported to Massachusetts General Hospital, where a spokesman said yesterday that he was in good condition.

Hersey said that although the fire was mostly confined to the garage, the living room was located over the garage, and smoke damage extends throughout the entire house.

Salisbury fire Chief Richard Souliotis said that fire officials know the blaze started in the garage, but its cause is still under investigation.

Contributions can be made to the Sean and Joshua Keller Fund, c/o The Institution for Savings, 7 Bridge Road, Salisbury, MA 01952.
