Burglary suspect heads back to court Friday

AMESBURY — A Seabrook man charged with breaking into numerous homes last July is expected to be back in Salem Superior Court Friday for a pretrial conference.

Ronald E. Clark, 28, of Janvrin Drive, faces multiple charges of larceny from a building, nighttime breaking and entering of a car and unarmed burglary stemming from an alleged housebreaking spree in the Wingate Street and Warren Avenue area of the city.

According to police, a Warren Avenue family awoke in the early morning hours of July 29, to find an air conditioner gone from a window and cash missing from a purse. After conducting a wide search of the area, aided by a K-9 unit, police were able to spot the suspect walking on Wingate Street. Upon his arrest, police found items that tied him to the Warren Avenue burglary and from several other house breaks.

Police believe Clark is responsible not only for that burglary but also for a series of house breaks and car breaks over a 48-hour period. Residents over the two days reported cash as well as electronics and communication devices, including a laptop and iPhone, stolen from their homes and cars. Some of the homes were entered through screen windows or doors. In all the vehicle breaks, the car doors were unlocked, according to police.

Clark was indicted by a grand jury last month and arraigned in Salem Superior Court on March 22 by Judge John Lu. He is being held without bail based on an August dangerousness hearing held at Newburyport District Court. Charges filed against Clark at the Newburyport court were dismissed per his arraignment in superior court.
