Joppa Park on commission's May agenda

NEWBURYPORT — The Parks Commission has canceled its meeting scheduled for tomorrow night due to a lack of quorum.

Parks officials say the next meeting is Wednesday, May 15.

Among subjects to be discussed this spring include improvements that might be made to Joppa Park. The park was revamped last summer, and more work might be scheduled to enhance the riverside parcel.

The commission is also expected to discuss the amount of field space in the city. Some residents have expressed concern that the number of ball fields might be inadequate for the demand of baseball, softball and soccer leagues.
