Nor'Easters open season with victory

Corey McNamara earned the victory in Newburyport’s opener against Saugus.


In a story in Wednesday’s Daily News about the new Triton athletic director, we cited a decrease in participation numbers in the track programs without the proper context. While the numbers are down from where they were in the early 2000s, enrollment numbers at Triton Regional High have also decreased during that time from over 1,000 students in the early 2000s to under 800 students at present. The Triton track programs have not obtained waivers for eighth-graders to participate like other programs in the school. Still, over the last few years, the participation numbers in girls indoor and outdoor track and boys indoor track have been consistent.


In a story in the June 6 edition of The Daily News, the incorrect Amesbury player was cited as the all-time leading scorer in the history of the field hockey program. Ashley Waters holds the record with 60 career goals and 79 assists.
