Amesbury man, 79, confronts burglars


During the roughly 20-month-long bridge replacement project, the DuGreniers enjoyed far less traffic than they had in the years since they purchased the home almost 40 years ago.

Chatigny said he understood DuGrenier’s motives for trying to protect his home but added that he hoped others in the same situation would try to avoid contact with would-be burglars and call police right away for assistance.

“We certainly don’t promote that when there’s another method,” Chatigny said.
