Food pantry needs helping hands

Able-bodied men are needed to help in the food pantry at The Salvation Army. This opportunity does require lifting. One person is needed every Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and another is needed every Thursday from 3 to 6:30 p.m. If interested, call Donna at 978-465-0883, ext. 12.

Scholarship opportunity

Applications for the Daughters of Isabella Scholarship are available for grade 12 graduating students who are Catholic and will be entering an institution of higher learning. Contact Judith Kennedy at 978-809-8552.

Nominations needed for Homecoming Youth Award

Nominations are now open for the 2014 Yankee Homecoming Board of Directors Youth Service Award. The sixth annual Yankee Homecoming Board of Directors Youth Service Award will be presented to a high school senior and a high school junior who either lives in, attends school in or volunteers in Newburyport; demonstrating a strong commitment to public service, volunteerism and dedication to a cause.

One winner from each grade level (11 and 12) will receive a $300 award in recognition of their contribution to the community. The award winners will be introduced during the Opening Ceremonies of Yankee Homecoming on Old-Fashioned Sunday. Award winners will be recognized throughout Yankee Homecoming festivities.
