Newbury News in brief

(Continued)

The Newbury Council on Aging is seeking new volunteers from the community to serve as drivers for medical transportation for local seniors. Through the Northern Essex Elder Transport Inc. (NEET) program, the COA provides rides to medical appointments. Volunteers drive seniors from their homes to medical appointments, providing door-to-door transportation. Drivers donate their time and use their own automobiles. A reimbursement of 43 cents per mile is given to the driver. Volunteers must have a good driving record. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer driver, please contact the Council on Aging at 978-462-8114.
