NEWBURYPORT — Do you care about the future development in Newburyport? Are Newburyport’s open spaces important to you and your family? Have you always wanted to voice your opinion but didn’t know how?
The city invites residents to join staff and volunteers as they discuss two Master Plan Chapters: Land Use & Development and Natural Resources, Open Space & Recreation.
Newburyport’s Master Plan will be a compilation of nine distinct chapters focusing on topics ranging from land use and development to education, cultural resources and energy and sustainability. On Wednesday, May 14 at 6:30 p.m. in the City Hall auditorium, subcommittee members will present their draft goals, objectives and actions for the first two chapters: Land Use and Development and Natural Resources, Open Space and Recreation. In addition to learning about all of the work the subcommittees have been doing, residents will be able to voice their opinions on these two Master Plan chapters.
“Our volunteer subcommittee members have been meeting and diligently working on creating an updated Master Plan that truly reflects the direction the community wants to take our city in over the next 10 years. This meeting is one of three that will focus on specific Plan chapters which will provide an opportunity for the community to really dig in and offer input and advice as we continue to move forward toward the completion of an updated and relevant Master Plan,” stated Mayor Donna Holaday.
In addition to the meeting on Wednesday, the city has scheduled two subsequent, chapter-specific public meetings on Wednesday, May 28, Housing, Economic Development, Energy and Sustainability, and Public Facilities, and Wednesday, June 11, Cultural Resources, Transportation, and Education.
