Merrimac Senior Center Activities


Travel Specials: Niagara Falls Finger Lakes Tour, Oct. 21-24; Classic Christmas Markets, Nov. 28-Dec. 6; Hawaii Cruise Tour, Jan. 22 to Feb. 1

Merrimac Senior Gift Shop is run by senior volunteers and crafters who have their beautiful handmade items for sale, including knitted baby sets, blankets, quilts, table runners, placemats, jewelry, cards and soaps. Every week there is something new at very reasonable prices. A portion of every sale is donated to the senior center to support activities and programs. The shop is open Monday. 12:30 to 2 p.m., Tuesday; noon to 2 p.m., Wednesday; 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., and Thursday, 10 a.m. to noon. The Crafters Showcase in the lobby is open every day during regular operating hours.

COA Mystery Book Readers Club members and anyone who has read “The Kings Reception” will meet Friday, May 23, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Men’s Group meets on the second and fourth Tuesday of the month at 10 a.m. for coffee and conversation.

Tai chi classes are every Thursday morning at 10:30 at the Merrimac Senior Center with Petra Horgan and open to anyone; $3 per class.

Exercise classes Held on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday with Pam Pacione from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.; $3 per class.

Drawing and Painting Classes with Beverly Mitchell, May 16 through June 20; one-time fee of $40 for six-week session. Call the senior center to get more information.

Rug Hooking with Gail Majauckas, Mondays, 9 a.m. to noon; Thursdays, 6:30 p.m.

Line Dance classes with Gerry Mullen, Fridays, 9:30 to11 a.m.; $3 per class

Card games: Bridge, Tuesdays at 1 p.m.; “45’s,” Tuesdays at 1:30 p.m.; poker, Thursdays at 1:30 p.m.
