Food drive to be held at Newbury Town Meeting

NEWBURY —The Newbury Democratic Town Committee and the Newbury Council on Aging are sponsoring a food drive, with collection to be made at the Newbury Town Meeting, Tuesday, May 20 at 7 p.m.

Food pantries need donations, especially in these difficult economic times. The number of people coming to local pantries for food continues to increase. This food drive will provide food and other desperately needed household items for pantries servicing Newbury and surrounding communities.

Suggested donations are non-perishable foods such as macaroni and cheese, dried and canned beans, peanut butter, spaghetti sauce, pasta, cereal, crackers, kids’ snack foods, dried fruit, juice, tuna, canned vegetables, beef stew, canned fruit.

Also, personal care items such as diapers (any size), toothpaste, shampoo, toilet paper and other toiletries.

Donations will be shared with Community Food Pantry, Byfield; Community Services Of Newburyport; Salvation Army, Newburyport; Community Action, Amesbury; Our Neighbors’ Table, Amesbury; Pettengill House, Salisbury.
