Santa Parade slated for Sunday

NEWBURYPORT — The Greater Newburyport Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Rotary Club of Newburyport are happy to announce the event that officially kicks off the holiday season — the annual Santa Parade and Tree Lighting.

The parade and tree lighting will take place on Sunday, Nov. 25. Santa and Mrs. Claus will arrive by Coast Guard boat at the eastern end of the central waterfront boardwalk, near the Harbormaster office at approximately 3:45 p.m. and will then proceed in a parade up through Market Square, up State Street, down Pleasant, and then down to Green Street and back to Market Square. The tree lighting will take place at approximately 4 p.m.

The Newburyport and Triton High School bands will help Santa get in the spirit along the way. Mayor Donna Holaday will help light the tree as well as lead the crowds in singing, and WNBP will broadcast live from the event as well.
