Tossing the pigskin around for Pettengill House

Coaches for the Salisbury Youth Flag Football League raised more than $1,500 for Pettengill House at their tournament on Nov. 17, according to coach and organizer Jeff Johnson.

The group also collected quite a bit of food for the social service organization’s food pantry, which helps many of the region’s households that are undergoing financial stress.

The games, which were played the Saturday before Thanksgiving, included seven teams of coaches, parents and friends of Salisbury Youth Flag Football League who gave their time for the all-day tournaments to support local families and Pettengill House.

“It was a day full of a lot of fun for a good cause,” Johnson said. “And there were a lot of sore bodies the following week.”
