---- — NEWBURYPORT — Odd Fellows Order of Newburyport, Quascacunquen Lodge #39, IOOF, has come to the rescue of the Senior Center in Seabrook, replacing a refrigerator/freezer unit that had failed.
Bro. Clayton Lawrence Dearth, a member of the Committee on Southern New Hampshire Charities and a frequent visitor to the Seabrook Senior Center, learned of the need from Betty Ash, program director of the Rockingham County Meals on Wheels, part of Rockingham County Nutrition Program. The unit was the only one at the center and there was concern that the center could not continue its meals program without it.
Dearth made a call to the lodge officers who rallied to the cause. Later that same day, the senior center had a new refrigerator/freezer unit courtesy of the Odd Fellows.
Last Thursday, members of the Odd Fellows lodge visited the senior center to officially make the presentation of the new appliance. They met with Ash and assistants Kathie Nadine Lord-Bowen and Patricia Marie Delaney. A grateful Ash thanked the Odd Fellows for their generosity and support and Noble Grand Donald George Rogers said he was pleased the lodge could assist so quickly.
The Odd Fellows of Newburyport serve the Greater Newburyport area as well as the local communities of southern New Hampshire.
