AMESBURY — The Amesbury Health Care Charitable Trust, a longtime supporter of programs that serve the health care needs of the residents of Amesbury, has donated $50,000 to Anna Jaques Hospital in Newburyport in support of the hospital’s capital campaign: Your Hospital: The Campaign for Anna Jaques.
Amesbury Health Care Charitable Trust’s donation will help cover the cost of Anna Jaques’ recent renovations, including its transformation into a primarily all-private room hospital, its new energy-efficient power plant and its renovated outpatient hospital entrance.
Amesbury Charitable Trust has supported the hospital for more than 10 years, and the gift marks its largest contribution to the hospital.
With the gift, Anna Jaques will meet and exceed its $6 million goal for its capital campaign.
“Some 50 years ago, our organization (then known as the Amesbury Hospital Trust) was established to help fund the additions and restorations needed by that hospital,” Robert E. Gaudet, chairman of the Amesbury Health Care Charitable Trust, said in a press release. “The capital campaign at Anna Jaques embodies the original intent of our organization — to support the infrastructure necessary to better care for our community.
“We are proud to be a part of such a meaningful improvement in patient care at Anna Jaques Hospital.”
Delia O’Connor, president and CEO of Anna Jaques, said she is grateful for the Amesbury Charitable Trust’s generosity and confidence in the hospital.
“The transformation of Anna Jaques into a primarily all-private room hospital will have a direct impact on the lives of Amesbury residents and those who live in the other communities we serve. Amesbury Charitable Trust’s support is particularly meaningful because of our common history and shared vision for the future of local health care,” she said in the release.
