Summer services at First Parish, Belleville

During July and August, the First Parish Church of Newbury and Belleville Congregational Church will be combining summer services. Worship service for July will be at Belleville Church at 9:30 a.m., led by the Rev. Ross Varney. August worship services will be held at First Parish Church of Newbury at 9:30 a.m., led by the Rev. Outdoor worship in Merrimac tomorrow

Outdoor Worship on the River will be held tomorrow at Carey Park, 111 River Road, Merrimac (near the corner of Broad Street and River Road), at 11 a.m., hosted by the Merrimacport United Methodist Church. First Religious Society on summer hiatus

The First Religious Society is closed from June 17 until the Sunday after Labor Day, Sept. 8.

In the summer, many of our parishioners attend The First Congregational Society (Unitarian) in Hampton Falls, N.H. Services there are at 10:45 a.m.

The church is on Route 88, just past Applecrest Farms. The Rev. Kenneth Clarke will preach tomorrow.

Public welcome at Adelynrood

The public is invited to Chapel of the Holy Cross at Adelynrood, 43 Elm St., Byfield, from July 13-Aug. 24 for the following:

Visit anytime, Tuesday through Friday: 7:15 a.m., Morning Prayer; Noon, Thanksgivings/Prayers; 9 p.m., Night Prayer. Also Wednesday, 7:15 a.m., Holy Communion.

Introduction to meditation class offered

The Insight Meditation Center of Newburyport will offer a four-week class entitled “An Introduction to Insight Meditation.” The class is designed for anyone interested in learning Insight Meditation (Vipassana). Vipassana is a simple practice that steadies the mind by grounding attention in the present moment; it originated in the Buddhist tradition more than 2,500 years ago. Class begins Thursday, July 18, from 7-8:30 p.m. and will last four weeks. Cost is $76. For registration information visit www.imcnewburyport.org.
