AMESBURY — The Amesbury Rotary will sponsor its first ever Cornhole Bonanza on Saturday, July 20, at the Amesbury Sports Park between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m.
“For those who aren’t familiar with cornhole, it involves tossing a bean bag onto a wooden box with a hole in it,” said Rotary President-Elect Todd Schell in a press release. “Chances are that many people have played it at backyard barbecues and never knew what it was called. The great part about this tournament is that people of any age can participate.”
There are spots for 80 teams available (each team consists of two players). The entrance fee is $25 per person, and the first-place team has an opportunity to win $500. Prizes for second place ($150) and third place ($50) will also be awarded. Each team will play a minimum of four matches.
“A special thanks to the Sports Park for hosting the tournament,” said committee member Eric Fournier. “It’s going to be a day of fun — people can have some eats and drinks, play some cornhole and enjoy themselves.”
