Pitch Slapped joins high school groups at A cappella Night

Newburyport Daily News

---- — WEST NEWBURY — Get ready for a “pitch perfect” evening of high-energy and memorable song at the ninth annual A cappella Night at Pentucket High School this weekend.

Hosted by the Pentucket Arts Foundation and sponsored by Eastern Bank Charitable Foundation, Saturday’s annual event partners local high school singers with a college a cappella group in a fun-filled and inspirational performance that always packs the house.

This year’s college headline group, Pitch Slapped, dazzled and inspired audiences in their appearance on NBC’s “The Sing-Off.” The co-ed a cappella group from Berklee College of Music has won the prestigious International Championship of Collegiate A cappella Award more than once and was recently chosen to sing the National Anthem at the Boston Celtics home opener on Friday.

A cappella groups from Pentucket High School, Amesbury High School and St. John’s Prep will also take the stage on Saturday to perform a wide variety songs, from classic oldies to contemporary arrangements.

The concert starts at 7 p.m. in the high school auditorium. Tickets are $10 and will go on sale at the door at 6:15 p.m. The house opens at 6:45 p.m. Seating is limited.

All proceeds from A cappella Night directly benefit the Pentucket Arts Foundation, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to enhance and support arts education and programming throughout the Pentucket communities.

Entering its 10th year anniversary next May, the group — formerly known as The Pentucket Fine and Performing Arts Foundation — launched a new website at and a new blog called “Voice for the Arts” at this month.
