---- — Veterans Luncheon Friday: Veterans and a guest are invited to a luncheon in their honor at the Merrimac Senior Center, 100 E Main St., Merrimac, on Friday at noon. Call the Senior Center to make reservations: 978-346-954.

Craft Fair Saturday: The Senior Center will be hosting a Holiday Craft Fair Saturday, 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with over 20 regional vendors, a cafe with muffins, soups, chowders, cookies, coffee, tea and cider. Stop in to see the handmade jewelry, hand-sewn/knitted items, baked goods and preserves, Christmas items, Thanksgiving items and much more.

Peggy’s Pantry: The Merrimac Senior Food Pantry will be distributing food packages today and Friday, Nov. 16, for Thanksgiving. Anyone who would like to receive a food package should contact the Senior Center and speak with Laura or Joyce. Donations of canned goods and non-perishables are gratefully accepted. For a “wish list,” contact the Senior Center.

Red Hatters: The Red Hatters will be meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 13, for a “Beauty Day” at Whittier Regional Vocational Tech High School cosmetology Department. Call Lorraine Chevalier at 978-346-9732 to make reservation.

Wii Tournament: On the second Tuesday of every month, the Merrimac and Amesbury seniors hold a Wii Tournament. The next tournament will be held at the Merrimac Senior Center at 9:30 a.m. Anyone wishing to participate is welcome to drop in. Regularly scheduled Wii games are played every Tuesday at 9.

Volunteers needed: The Senior Center is looking for receptionist volunteers to answer phones, help decorate the senior center for holidays and seasons, help with the Gift Shop, make reassurance calls to homebound and make evening calls for our “Tuck In Program.” If you would like to make a difference in the lives of our seniors, call and speak with Sandy.

Lunches: Lunches are served Monday through Friday at noon, prepared by the cook and staff onsite. Cost of meals is only $3.50. For a complete monthly menu call the Senior Center or go online to the Merrimac Senior Center Newsletter:

Friends of the COA: The next meeting of the Friends of Merrimac COA is today at 1:30 p.m. All dues-paying members are invited to attend and urged to bring ideas to help plan future events.

Quilters: Calling all quilters join us for a Quilting afternoon! Bring your current or old projects on Wednesdays, 1-3 p.m.

Transportation available: Anyone in need of a ride to medical appointments, the Merrimac Senior Center, local hairdresser or grocery shopping can call the Merrimac Senior Center to arrange transportation with the van or volunteer drivers (Northern Essex Elder Transport). Call a minimum of two business days in advance for local transportation, two weeks for medical appointments to Peabody, Burlington, Boston and anywhere beyond 15 miles from Merrimac. Cost is based on mileage but only $1 one way within Merrimac or $2 roundtrip. For more information or to set up a ride, call the Senior Center at 978-346-9549 during normal working hours.

Merrimac TV Channel 18 “Merrimac Stories”: Do you have a life story that you would be interested in sharing? We are looking for people who grew up in Merrimac or moved to Merrimac who will share in its history, culture and anecdotes. Call the Senior Center and speak with Laura about any ideas for TV shows or if you are interested in sharing your story or Chris Liquori at Merrimac Town Hall.
