Flares to fire as part of training exercise

SALISBURY -- The Police Department is expected to issue a Code Red phone blast today at 6 p.m. to all residences who have signed up for the free alert system.

The Code Red is to alert residents of the firing of marine flares between 7:30 and 8:30 p.m. tonight as part of a training exercise conducted by the town’s harbormaster, according to police.

Those interested in signing up for the Code Red alert system can visit the department’s website at salisburypolice.com or call the station at 978-465-3121 for more information.
