Supercuts holding fundraiser for marathon victims

Local Supercuts hair salons will hold a fundraiser this weekend to raise money for the victims of the Boston Marathon bombing.

The Honey Tree, Inc. stores will be donating 10 percent of all proceeds from their sales on Saturday and Sunday to a fund for Merrimack Valley resident Jeff Bauman for his medical expenses and to The One Fund Boston, which will aid all victims and their families.

Bauman was at the finish line waiting to watch his girlfriend, Amesbury High graduate Erin Hurley, complete the race when the two bombs exploded, and lost both of his legs due to his wounds.

“I woke up this morning realizing we had the opportunity to donate to the victims and we could do it fast simply by going off of our sales for the weekend,” Supercuts operation manager Josselyn Wilson wrote in an email.

Employees will be dressed in their favorite Boston gear, and customers are urged to do the same.

Supercuts is located locally at 45 Storey Avenue, Newburyport, and 100 Macy St., Amesbury.
