---- — HAVERHILL — Police said thieves who broke into a liquor store at Riversedge Plaza early yesterday morning got away with two cash registers and some cash, but they left behind other money.
Yesterday at about 4:32 a.m., Patrolman Joseph Ingham was sent to Harry’s Liquors at 239 Lincoln Ave. on a report of a burglar alarm.
When Ingham arrived, he found the glass panel to the front door of the business had been removed from the frame and was sitting beside the door.
Ingham wrote in his report that he called in the break and entered the business to search for suspects, but did not find anyone.
The area behind the counter was in disarray, with papers and small items strewn about the floor, and the cash registers were missing, Ingham said in his report.
Detective John Moses was called to the scene to investigate. The business owner was called to the store as well and told the officers that two registers containing an unspecified amount of money had been stolen. The owner told police that the drawer from the Massachusetts State Lottery register was still under the counter, along with several boxes of money that were left untouched.
Moses processed the scene and is continuing the investigation, police said.
