Trio of authors to speak at Groveland library

---- — GROVELAND — Three authors will make an appearance at the Langley Adams Library this fall.

On Monday, Sept. 16, at 6:30 p.m., author, historian, and longtime Smuttynose Island steward J. Dennis Robinson will present “Treasure From the Isles of Shoals: How New Archaeology is Changing Old History.” Robinson operates the award-winning website SeacoastNH.com and has written more than a dozen non-fiction books, many about the Portsmouth and Coastal New Hampshire area. On Monday, Sept. 30, at 6:30 p.m., author, conservationist and sportfisherman Matt Rigney discusses his book, a Massachusetts Book Award Must-Read for 2013, “In Pursuit of Giants: One Man’s Global Search for the Last of the Great Fish.” Rigney is a member of the International Game Fish Association and Oceans, the largest ocean restoration group in the world. On Saturday, Oct. 5, at 11a.m., award-winning author and lecturer Michael Tougias presents his book “A Storm Too Soon: A True Story of Disaster, Survival and an Incredible Rescue.” Tougias has written 18 books, including two national best-sellers. Nichols Village Book Club meets the second Tuesday of the month. Next Meeting: Tuesday, Sept. 10, at 3:15 p.m. Book: “Uncle Tom’s Cabin” by Harriet Beecher Stowe.

Wednesday Night Book Club at the library meets Wednesday, Sept. 18, at 6:45 p.m. Book: “A Walk in the Woods” by Bill Bryson.

River Pines Book Club in the River Pines Community Room will meet Wednesday, Sept. 25, at 2 p.m.

Book: “Hometown” by Tracy Kidder.

Ongoing Programs: Adult Knit-A-Bitters meets at the library every Monday at 6:30 p.m., Sept. 9, 16, 23 and 30.

Adult Scrabble meets at the library the second and fourth Fridays of each month, Sept. 13 and 27.
