If you are an older driver who is wondering how to make driving more comfortable, take the time to attend CARFIT on Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon at the Council on Aging, 39 Central St. (the town annex). The event is an educational program designed by the American Society on Aging, the American Automobile Association and AARP to promote continued safe driving and mobility among older drivers by focusing on the senior driver’s placement in the vehicle.
Officer Tom Hills of the Rowley Police Department and Rowley TRIAD will be on hand to go through the 12-point checklist that is used to evaluate how a person “fits” in their individual vehicle. Items like seat belt adjustment, head restraint positioning and mirror adjustments will be discussed. Each evaluation takes approximately 15 minutes and attendees will leave with recommended vehicle adjustments and adaptations specific to their needs.
