A Candidates’ Night, for residents to meet those who are running for office in the May 14 Annual Town Election, will be held on Wednesday, May 8, from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the Rowley Town Library.

Candidates include, but are not limited to: School Committee; Board of Selectmen; library trustees; Cemetery Commission; Water and Municipal Lighting boards; Board of Assessors and shellfish commissioner.

Each candidate will briefly present information about their professional expertise, past experience in town and how they wish to contribute to the town by taking a position in town government.

This free event is sponsored by the Friends of the Rowley Public Library.

The fourth Annual Comedy Night, hosted by Solace for Stephanie, a nonprofit organization that raises funds in the name of Rowley resident Stephanie Jenkins, will be held on Saturday at the Ipswich Country Club, starting at 8 p.m. (doors open at 6:30).

Boston-area comedian Paul Gilligan will be the feature entertainment, as will a special Trivia Challenge game. Local business Brick Computer is the sponsor of the event. Visit for more details. Tickets, which are $35 per person, will not be available at the door.
