Household Hazardous Waste Day June 29

---- — NEWBURY — The Board of Health has announced a Household Hazardous Waste Day on Saturday, June 29, from 9 a.m. to noon in the back parking lot of the Newbury Elementary School.

The event is free of charge for non-commercial Newbury residents with a photo ID. Non-residents will be charged $44 per 25 gallons and $24 per 10 gallons. The Town of Newbury is charged per vehicle, therefore carpooling is strongly encouraged.

What to bring:

Oil­-based paints, shellac, varnish paint, strippers turpentine, paint thinners wood preservatives, dry­cell batteries (not including alkaline), cleaners, fluorescent lamps, polishes, solvents, adhesives, acids, flammable liquids, fire starters, fiberglass resins 2,4,5 trichiorophenoxyacetic acid insecticides, pesticides, poisons herbicides, weed killers, fungicides nail polish remover, oven/drain cleaners, waste fuels (gasoline, kerosene) used motor oil, transmission fluid, tire cleaners, radiator flush, degreasers, carburetor cleaner, antifreeze, brake fluid, oil filters.

What not to bring:

Latex Paint (not hazardous), explosives or any ordinance, empty of partially empty propane tanks, medical waste (biomedical and pharmaceutical) PCB’s, radioactive material (including smoke detectives), tires.
